The Competition

My name was called
The second-last in the list
I marched out
No one seems warned me of the nerves

My teeth clattering and chattering
Palms were sweating
Hands were giggling
Stomach was twisting and rumbling
Molecules were shaking
Blood was running-low
Heart was tearing and beating unusually

The tense and fear
Nerve-wreaking silence
In a small room
Are enough to kill and chill anyone

With a deep breath
I started my speech
With a simple "thank you"
I ended my speech
And heaved a sigh of relief
